In this Tech Session we will take a deep dive into issues Cisco Phones can have when registering to Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM). We will start out going over what steps a phone goes through as it is registering. Then, we will drill down into each of those steps and go over what kinds of issues can arise from each of these, including VLAN issues, TFTP issues, DHCP issues as well as plain old configuration errors. We will go over which configuration fields are required for phone registration and which fields only affect the phone after registration. Finally, we will go over what types of error messages can be seen on the phone when the phone doesn’t register and how to fix each of these errors.
