Kevin Klous has over 12 years of experience in IT and a strong background in network security, systems administration, and project management. He holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Liberty University and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Information Systems Engineering with a Cybersecurity focus from the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Since joining Cisco in 2012, Kevin has developed expert-level depth and knowledge in the field of network security. He became a Cisco Certified Inter-networking Expert (CCIE #43604 – Security) in April 2014 and has since been involved in CCIE development efforts alongside other Cisco security experts and partners. Kevin has served as a mentor and technical resource for other global TAC teams and continues to work closely with Cisco engineering teams to ensure product quality throughout the development process. In March 2018, Kevin joined the Cisco CX Technical Leadership team focused on the Cisco NGFW technology based in RTP, North Carolina.

Description: 

This presentation will focus on preemptive measures and reactive techniques that can be used to troubleshoot, secure, and maintain the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance. The main goal of this presentation will be to provide an in-depth understanding of the packet flow through the firewall device, as well as how to effectively utilize the available commands and on-board tools to troubleshoot connectivity problems. It will be assumed that attendees possess knowledge of security fundamentals and firewall technology at the level presented in the Cisco Networkers Online Introduction to Firewalls and Deploying Firewalls.
